Week 10

Reflecting on this assignment, I realize how much I've learned about the design process, especially through the IDEO Human-Centered Design Methodology. Starting with the ideation phase, I quickly understood the importance of gathering diverse feedback. Engaging with people like KJ, Yoru, Skye, and Neon really opened my eyes to the real-life challenges many face related to mental health. Hearing their stories made me appreciate the significance of empathy in design—it's not just about creating something cool; it’s about making a difference in people's lives.

Creating user personas was a game-changer for me. By diving into their experiences, I could tailor the app's features to better meet their needs. It reinforced my belief that design should resonate with its users, fostering a sense of connection and understanding. I want the app to feel like a safe space where users can find support and encouragement.

As I moved into the implementation phase, developing user flows and exploring aesthetic elements was both challenging and rewarding. It helped me visualize how the app would function and how users would interact with it. I realized how crucial it is to make things clear and easy to navigate; a well-structured app can greatly enhance user engagement. Plus, thinking about color choices and layout really drove home how design influences emotional responses. I want users to feel comforted and motivated when they use the app.

Incorporating ethical considerations and creating a mood board were also vital steps. The mood board kept me focused on the emotional tone I wanted to achieve throughout the development process. Meanwhile, having clear ethical guidelines ensured that I respected participants' privacy and considered the responsibility that comes with using AI in my research.

Overall, this assignment has been a transformative journey. It pushed me to think critically about design principles, user experiences, and the ethical implications of technology in mental health. Moving forward, I’ll carry these lessons with me, striving to create solutions that are not just innovative but also compassionate and genuinely user-centered. I’m excited to continue this journey and see where it takes me!
